On Sunday May 19, the NJSIAA held its 2024 Scholar-Athletes Luncheon at Pines Manor in Edison to recognize the student-athletes who exhibit excellent academic performance and outstanding community citizenship.

Out of the hundreds of seniors who received scholarships, two seniors were the recipients of $500 scholarships sponsored by GardenStateHSWrestling.com. Those being Sean Walker of Lakeland Regional High School and Miso Brownbridge of High Point Regional High School.

Walker was a member of the Lakeland football, wrestling, and track & field teams. As a wide receiver and defensive back he totaled 20 catches for 250 receiving yards and two touchdowns on offense, and 15 total tackles, a fumble recovery, and an interception on defense for the season.

On the wrestling mat Walker also had a stellar season in 2023-2024, finishing with an individual record of 20-3 on a Lakeland team that finished 14-5 and second in the Independence Division. He made it as far as the Wrestleback Third Round in the 157 bracket of the 2024 NJSIAA Wrestling State Championships.

Brownbridge was a three-sport athlete at High Point as a member of lacrosse, soccer, and wrestling teams. Despite dealing with injuries, she still managed to be a valuable contributor and beloved teammate to all three teams throughout the duration of the 2023-2024 season.

GardenStateHSWrestling.com would like to congratulate both wrestlers for their incredible accomplishments both on and off the mat and we wish them luck in their future endeavors.

Since the inception of the program in 1993, the NJSIAA has recognized 9,540 New Jersey high school student-athletes and has given out over $185,000 a year in scholarships.
