CONTENDERS: Hanover Park returns nearly its entire North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1 winning team from a year ago. They also add a tough 106 pounder in freshman Lou Raimo who should start right away. The team is very experienced and is one of the most disciplined in the state. Parsippany is a squad that will give you fits. Each weight has a tough wrestler who will fight for every point. Also long time head coach Fred Piotrowksy has the ability to pull the best results from his teams every year.
DARK HORSE: Whippany Park returns 13 of 14 starters from a year ago and took 7 of its last 8 dual meets to close out the season. They have eight wrestlers who won at least 20 matches a year ago, four who qualified for Region 3. With a record turnout for the team, depth will not be an issue.
OTHERS: Dover, Madison
OUR PICK: Hanover Park: This team has really been on a role the last few years. Back to back sectional titles and great representation in Atlantic City should translate to the mat again this year. While the loss of Gennaro Cuccolo (4th in the state at 138) will sting a little, the team has a great amount of battle tested kids. I think this squad can win this division and possibly another sectional title after a move to North 2, Group 2.
