Hanover Park sophomore Anthony Cefolo underwent surgery on his finger yesterday after participating in his first wrestling tournament of the season. The state champion at 106 a year ago, has a compound fracture of his left ring finger gotten while wrestling in his first match at the Journeyman Classic in Schenectady, NY yesterday.
The sophomore posted hard late in the second period against Danbury (CT) Kevin Jack, resulting in the injury. The surgery was performed at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady and should sideline Cefolo for 4-8 weeks. If the tendon is not injured, which Cefolo's doctor's said looks to be fine, the recovery time will be on the low end. Cefolo is in good spirits and says he will be ready for the first Hornets practice this year.
