CONTENDERS: When you talk contenders in this division, you of course have to start with High Point. In what was assumed to be a rebuilding year last season, the team only went 20-4 and took the Group 2 Title. They also have three returning state medalists in Jason Gaccione (4th at 145), Mike Derin (8th at 132) and Kyle Stoll (6th at 195). A team that is looking to get past High Point is Morris Knolls. The team has a young experienced group with a trio of sophomores (Garrett O'Shea, Dean Drugac, Luke Drugac) going a combined 95-22 a year ago. Morris Knolls has a lot of depth and a great crop of hungry wrestlers heading into this season. Mount Olive is not to be forgotten as they will have a trio of seniors guiding this team. Anthony Colabella (29-8), Ronnie Spera (28-8) and Tommy Vazzano (28-8) could will this team to some close wins.
DARK HORSE: Sparta has been a team on the rise the last few years. They have been slowly building a solid base of wrestling and this should be the year they finally put it all together.
OTHERS: Montville, Morris Hills, Pope John, Vernon
OUR PICK: High Point: This team is just too strong. Not only should they take this division but I think they can win a state title again this year.
