On Wednesday July 10th at Mount Olive High School, the team will present the 2nd Annual Marauder Dome Duals in Flanders.
In the same format as a year ago, teams will be competing in the Battle for the Hammer.
Matches will consist of three 90-second periods, a minute long overtime and in necessary a 30-second sudden victory. College style out of bounds rules and the new NHSCA/NJSIAA rules are also in effect such as the three-point takedown.
The Duals will seven teams returning from last year’s duals including Mount Olive, Morris Hills, Watchung Hills, South Plainfield, High Point, Howell and defending champion Easton (PA) with room for an eighth.
Third-grade through 12th-grade wrestlers are eligible to participate however graduating seniors are not. Wrestlers will be placed into 23 weight classes divided into two categories, Youth Weight Classes and High School Weight Classes. The following are the weight classes for each:
Youth Weight Classes: 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 86, 93, 100, 110, 120, 132, and 150+
High School Weight Classes: 108, 116, 124, 132, 140, 148, 156, 164, 174, 188, 210, and 285
Teams will be allowed five free agents and five extra wrestlers rostered for movement, but rosters should not exceed 27 total wrestlers. Third through seventh grade wrestlers may not be permitted to wrestle in a high school weight class.
Check-in will take place at 9 a.m., followed by weigh-ins that will take place between 10-11 a.m., and pool play matches will begin at 11 a.m., although times are subject to change.
The goal of this event is to form teams from our communities and to give youth wrestlers as well as families a chance to truly understand the community aspect of wrestling. We also want to create a connection between both high school and youth programs.
It costs $600 per team. A $300 deposit is required with confirmation of team entrance in the duals and the remaining balance is due two weeks before the event on June 30. Two types of payment are accepted, either Venmo or check.
